More Halloween Madness

Halloween is coming and the geese are getting fat. Would you please put a penny in the old man's hat?

NI offers no shortage of fun spooky events, so in a second instalment here are even more Halloween options for you all...


Belfast Halloween Monster Mash and Fireworks Display


Belfast's biggest and best Halloween event and fireworks display takes place on Sunday 29 October from 4pm - 7pm at The Slipways, Titanic Belfast.

Dust off your broomstick for an evening of carnival capers, spooky street theatre, macabre music, wicked workshops and fearsome fire juggling. This year's theme is Day of the Dead and little ghouls and scary skeletons of all ages can come along in their creepy carnival outfits or monstrous magical ones.

Beginning at 4pm, the entertainment line-up will feature:
  • an array of street theatre and walkabouts
  • breath-taking fire shows and jugglers
  • arts and crafts workshops
  • mini fearsome fairground rides
  • scary samba and Day of the Dead dancers
  • live music on stage from The Unusual Suspects
  • a range of hot food, drinks, scary sweets and Halloween tasty treats available for purchase.
Alongside event media partner Q Radio, the Q street team will be out and about amongst the crowd to select the best fancy dress outfits on the night, with some fang-tastic prizes up for grabs.

The eerie evening will draw to a close with the largest fireworks display in the city, set to a carnival party samba soundtrack. Fireworks will begin at approximately 6.45pm and are due to last for 15 minutes.

Admission to the event is free and tickets are not required.

A free ghost shuttle bus will operate to and from the event. Outward journey: 3.45pm - 6.15pm. Buses depart from Chichester Street (outside SS Moore's) every 15 minutes and will drop off on Queen's Road.

Return journey: 7pm - 8pm - Buses will leave Queen's Road at the Titanic Film Studios and drop off beside the Belfast City Hall at Donegall Square West.

Carrowmena Field of Screams


Spread over six horrendously scary Halloween nights, the 'Carrowmena Field of Screams' is definitely not for the faint hearted.

Taking place at Carrowmena Activity Centre in Limavady, this event is guaranteed to get you screaming as you discover what lurks deep deep down in the Field of Screams.

Boo at the Zoo


If you have young children, bring them along to the Boo at the Zoo event this Halloween at Belfast Zoo.

Hop on your broomstick and watch your little monsters enjoy a fang-tastic day of fiendish fun for all the family at the Cave Hill site, including creepy crafts, freaky face painting and bewitching bat talks.

Visitors can also watch animals tucking into their special 'trick or treat' pumpkins.

Monster Manor at W5

Creepy Crawlers at The Mac


Perfect for those with Little Monsters who have plenty of energy to burn off this Halloween.

In this workshop, your 'Creepy Crawler' will be encouraged to move, dance, sing and interact with a whole host of new and exciting textures, sights and sounds.

The 45-minute event is designed with babies on the move in mind, encouraging them to develop their confidence to grab, roll, crawl, stand and even take their first steps.

Ghostly Slieve Gullion


Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without some paranormal goings-on, so bring the family to the ancient hills of the Ring of Gullion to partake in some festive mischief.

Taking place in Slieve Gullion Forest Park, the Ghostly Slieve Gullion event will see creatures of the mountain awake from their deep slumber to carry out all things ghoulish and ghastly.

The fiendish Witch, Calliagh Berra has cursed the mountain, awaking a wailing banshee known as the Weeping Maiden. Together, they plan to awaken the Willow Dragon and cause untold chaos and destruction.

And with the mountain crawling with Calliagh Berra's servants and underlings, do you have the guts to roam the ancient hills this Halloween season?

Broomstick Belle


Come meet Broomstick Belle this Halloween and enjoy a scenic journey along the shores of Belfast Lough.

Ghosts and ghoulies of all ages are encouraged to dress up in seasonal costumes and get into the unique steamy Halloween atmosphere onboard a restored steam train.

Journeys will begin from Belfast Central, travel along the shores of Belfast Lough to Whitehead and return.

In addition, children holding a ticket will receive a spooky goody bag from the wicked witch.

Wicked Waterfront Hallowe'en Movie


It's all treats and no tricks as The Nightmare Before Christmas brings spellbinding Hallowe'en movie magic to the Waterfront's big, big screen.

Arrive early for ghoulish goodies and spooky surprises.

Halloweentown's Pumpkin King has become bored with frightening people in the real world. When he chances upon Christmastown he plots to kidnap Santa Claus and take over the role...
