Council's Investment In Colin Tops £17m

Belfast City Council's investment in Colin in west Belfast will top the £17 million mark when redevelopment work begins on Brook Activity Centre in the New Year.

Councillor Deirdre Hargey, Chair of Belfast's City Council’s Strategic Policy and Resources Committee said the new centre is the latest project to be undertaken by the council since Colin moved to Belfast under Local Government Reform.

"The £15 million investment in Brook, which is part of our overall £105 million leisure transformation programme for the city, will provide state-of-the-art sports and leisure facilities to help local people improve their health and wellbeing while playing a significant role in the regeneration of the local area," said Cllr Hargey.

The new centre, which is due to complete in 2019, will include numerous 3G pitches, a large 5 court sports hall, and a 25 metre pool - bringing swimming close to home for the first time for many residents.
