Co Antrim Man Mark Allen Wins Masters Title

Co Antrim man Mark Allen has claimed a Masters title with a 10 - 7 victory over Kyren Wilson at Alexandra Palace, London.

He is the third player from NI to scoop the title and the first since Denis Taylor over 30 years ago.

The world number eight also pocketed the £200,000 prize money as well as the Paul Hunter trophy.

SDLP Antrim Councillor Roisin Lynch said: "Antrim has been buzzing since Mark's electrifying win at the Masters. He's not only an outstanding player but an incredible ambassador for the town on a global sporting stage.

"Everyone here is so proud of Mark and his achievements. We all knew he could win the big tournaments and from the moment he clinched victory over Ronne O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals, there was no doubt he had the momentum to take the title home.

"Mark is a popular and very skilled snooker player who continues to give so much back to the community he's from. We're all very proud and can't wait to cheer him on to further success."
