Appeal Issued After Pair Assaulted In Bus Lane Attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and a woman were assaulted during an incident in which a bus lane camera was attacked in west Belfast.

The camera was attached to a car in the Falls Road area on Tuesday, 17 April.

Footage has been put on social media which shows a man with his face covered climbing onto the roof of the vehicle and smashing the windscreen.

It is believed the victims work for the Department of Infrastructure (DfI).

Sinn Fein MLA Fra McCann condemned the attack.

He said: "This is the second such attack in weeks where a person has been attacked whilst carrying out a days work.

"This should be condemned by everyone and the fact that it was carried out in broad daylight again highlights the difficulties faced by this community in the battle against criminal behaviour.

"The people who carry out these attacks do not speak for the West Belfast community and they need to stop immediately."
