Man Charged After Woman Killed In North Belfast Crash

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was hit by a stolen car in north Belfast.

The stolen vehicle was being chased by police in the Ballysillan area before it crashed on Thursday, 19 April.

The suspect is to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today, 20 April.

The Police Ombudsman has launched an investigation.

The PSNI deployed a stinger to stop the Audi A4, which had been stolen from outside a house in the Cavehill Road area of Belfast.

SDLP North Belfast Councillor Paul McCusker said: "Death drivers have no place in our society and serve no other purpose than to terrorise communities.

"My thoughts go out to the family and I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward to the PSNI."

Two Men Arrested Following Police Pursuit In North Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a police pursuit in North Belfast. It is understood that the police pursuit began late on Saturday, 21 July following reports that a vehicle had been involved in a theft at a shop on the Oldpark Road. The suspect vehicle was spotted by police just before midnight in the Ardoyne area and a pursuit began.

Two Critical After North Belfast Shooting
A man and a woman are in critical condition following a shooting in North Belfast. The 47-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, who are believed to be father and daughter, were injured during the incident at Evelyn Gardens in Skegoneill after 8.30am this morning. They were sitting in their car when the shots were fired. Police are at the scene.
