Sinn Féin Accused Of Being 'Stuck In Fantasy Land'
SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MLA has slammed Sinn Féin Leader Mary Lou McDonald after she claimed that Brexit cannot be stopped in Westminster.
The SDLP Leader said that Sinn Féin lacked any strategy on how it can stop a hard border or hard Brexit. Mr Eastwood said people in West Tyrone need to know that a vote for Sinn Fein only strengthens the hand of the DUP.
The SDLP Leader said: "It beggars belief that the Sinn Féin Leader's pitch to the public to elect an MP in West Tyrone is to say that Westminster doesn't matter – that in Westminster Brexit can't be stopped. Why then are Sinn Féin running in this election at all?"
Sinn Féin Welcomes Labour MEPs Planned Visit To Border Region
Sinn Fein MP Mickey Brady has welcomed that a delegation of Labour MEP's are due to visit the border region on Friday 27 April.
The Newry-Armagh MP said it would be an opportunity for the seven MEP's to "see and hear the harsh reality of Brexit for border communities".
Mickey Brady added: "I welcome the interest of these Labour MEPs. The intense lobbying and campaigning by Sinn Fein MEPs in Brussels, Dublin and London has alerted many politicians to the enormous damage that Brexit threatens to bring to Ireland generally and border communities in particular.
"I would urge this delegation to listen carefully to the concerns of local people and avoid the tokenism we saw from David Davis.
"As the local MP I am very happy to welcome them to this constituency."
