UVF To Claim Responsibility For Killing Some Ballymurphy Victims
The UVF is to claim it was responsible for some of the shootings to the Ballymurphy killings inquest.
Members of the Parachute Regiment have always been held responsible for the civilians' deaths during three days of gunfire in August 1971.
The information is to be provided to the Coroners' Council within days and the inquest is expected to begin in September.
Ten people were fatally shot, including a priest trying to aid one of the wounded and a mother-of-eight. Another man later died of heart failure.
It is understood paramilitary veterans have provided the gunman’s name, alleging he was responsible for a number of the deaths.
SDLP spokesperson Dolores Kelly welcomed the move.
She said: "This is a welcome step by loyalist paramilitaries to come forward with information pertaining to truth. I would urge that this information be passed to the coroner as soon as possible for the inquest due to start in September.
"There can no longer be any hiding place for perpetrators within the ranks of all organisations. It is imperative that truth be the central tenant of legacy inquests so that justice can be done for all unanswered atrocities during the Troubles."

James McGrogan, aged 37, and 32-year-old Christopher Cullen were both convicted on Thursday 18th April, for a number of drug-related offences.
