Woman's body found in boot of car

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body

in the boot of a car in north Belfast early this morning.

Police made the find after receiving a tip-off about suspicious activity in the Skegoneil Avenue area just after 1am.

The car was subsequently stopped at a police checkpoint on the Antrim Road shortly before 2am and has since been taken away for forensic examination.

A number of roads in and around the Antrim Road were closed on Thursday morning as the police operation continued.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in either the Skegoneil Avenue or the Antrim Road areas on Wednesday night, is asked to contact police.

Two Arrested After 'Suspicious Activity'
Two men have been arrested by police following reports of suspicious activity in the North Circular Road area of Belfast. Police attended the scene and arrested two males on suspicion of burglary and possession of class A and B drugs. No further information is available.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
