Portrush residents evacuated as building catches fire
Around 20 people have been evacuated from their homes after a fire broke out at a four-storey building in Co Antrim.
The building at Lansdowne Crescent in Portrush caught fire at around 1am on Friday with local residents having to be moved from their houses to a nearby guesthouse.
The building, a former residential home which was being renovated, was destroyed in the fire despite the best efforts of fire crews at the scene.
Police have yet to establish the cause of the fire however forensic scientists are expected to visit the scene later on Friday.

Minister Commits To Policies With A 'Real And Meaningful Impact'
At the first meeting of the Communities Committee, Minister Gordon Lyons has committed to delivering policies that make a 'real and meaningful impact'. Whilst acknowledging the scale of the challenge facing all departments in terms of budget, the Minister outlined his ambitions for getting the most from available funds.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

The latest visitor statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show a very strong performance on trips, nights and spend by Republic of Ireland residents in Northern Ireland in the first nine months of 2023.
