Man and woman shot in Co Down bar
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were shot at a bar in Co Down on Sunday.
Both victims were sitting in McSwiggan's bar in Water Street, Newry, at around 7.30pm when a masked man armed with a handgun entered the premises and shot both individuals.
The male victim was initially brought to Daisy Hill Hospital along with the female, but he was later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment.
SDLP assembly member Dominic Bradley and Ulster Unionist assembly member Danny Kennedy both condemned the shooting. Sinn Fein’s Davy Hyland said locals were “shocked and concerned” following the incident.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

Health Minister, Robin Swann, has announced that he will seek a deferral to legislation to remove all hospital parking charges from 12 May, 2024. Minister Swann said that he will ask the Assembly to defer the measure for a two year period.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
