Police launch murder inquiry following body find

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of the body of man in his 40s in the Ballybean area of Dundonald.

It is understood that the alarm was raised when the man, who has not yet been named, was reported overdue for work on Monday. The body of the man was subsequently found in a flat at Gleneagles Gardens in the Ballybean area of Dundonald on Monday afternoon. He is believed to have worked as a porter in the Ulster Hospital.

A forensic team is examining the scene where the body was discovered.

Police are treating the death as a murder, but with no apparent motive, one line of inquiry is that the death may possibly have resulted from a burglary.

It is not thought that there is any sectarian or paramilitary involvement in the murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Castlereagh.
