NORTHERN IRELAND UDER-19 FOOTBALL TEAM
GIVE RACISM THE RED CARD
Northern Ireland Under-19 international football manager, Mal Donaghy, today made a plea to Northern Ireland football Supporters to come out in force to back the IFA’s “Give Racism the Red Card” appeal during the UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament to be played in Northern Ireland, between 18 and 29 July.
Mal Donaghy said:
“This tournament will be very high profile and matches will be broadcast on Eurosport. This provides an excellent platform for football Supporters and community groups throughout Northern Ireland to back the IFA’s high profile GIVE RACISM THE RED CARD appeal. I have made sure our team has publicly backed the appeal and we are asking our Supporters to show their support by attending the games and bringing their own anti-racism banners. Racism is a serious problem facing football throughout the world and we want to show Northern Ireland is making a stand against it”.

The UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament has been split into two groups:
GROUP A – Northern Ireland, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro, Germany;
GROUP B – Norway, Armenia, France and England.
The tournament will be staged in five different venues mainly located around Belfast: Windsor Park (Belfast), the Showgrounds (Ballymena), the Oval (Belfast), Mournview Park (Lurgan) and the Showgrounds (Newry).
The IFA have put in place numerous community initiatives to create a fun, inclusive and family orientated atmosphere at the games. Each venue will have IFA anti-racism banners on display.
