Invest NI seeks enterprising people

Invest Northern Ireland is calling for all those thinking of or currently involved in developing a new business to take part in National Enterprise Week 14 -20 November.

Enterprise Week is a UK-wide series of events specifically designed to inspire people to be more enterprising and start or improve their business.

This year a number of events are planned throughout the week, culminating in ‘Go for It – The Enterprise Show’, on the 19 and 20 November at the King’s Hall, Belfast.

“There is still a lot of work to be done to make Northern Ireland a truly entrepreneurial society. By encouraging people to overcome their fears, take a chance and start a business we will help support the growth of the private sector and the continued development of the economy,” said Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive of Invest NI.

The show which will include presentations from renowned speakers such as Watt Nicoll the ‘guru of personal reinvention’ who has advised people from across the world on how to get motivated and transform their lives including football legends such as David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Andrew Cole.

Other speakers will include the directors of Omlet, who whilst still in their twenties, have created an innovative new company that is set to achieve a turnover of £2m in only its second year of trading.

Separate events are planned for the rest of the week including the launch of the Hall Of Fame DVD, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank at a gala celebration at the Transport Museum, Cultra on the 15 November.

Containing video testimonials and case studies of highly successful entrepreneurs like Lord Diljit Rana, Dr Martin Naughton and William Wright the DVD will be distributed directly to schools, colleges, universities and libraries across Northern Ireland.

Other events throughout the week will include ‘Creative Thinking, Inside the Mind of an Entrepreneur’ on the 16 November at the Templepatrick Hotel with Simon Woodroffe, founder of the YO! Sushi restaurant chain.

There will also be a ‘Social Economy Counts’ seminar for social economy businesses on the 17 November at the Titanic Quarter, Belfast and a day dedicated solely to promoting enterprise for young people at the King’s Hall on the 18 November.
