Road death victim named

A 25-year-old woman has died following a road traffic accident in Co Down on Thursday.

The victim, named as Olive McGinn, a teacher from Bessbrook, was driving a car which was involved in a collision with another car and a lorry near the Bernish Road, Newry, three-quarters of a mile from the Forkhill roundabout, at 5pm.

The driver of the other car was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The road was closed for a while as police investigated the cause of the accident however it has since been reopened.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Serious Road Accident In L'Derry
Police are appealing for witnesses of a serious road accident in Maghera, Co L'Derry, on Sunday night. A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following the two car collision on the Coleraine Road. It is understood a number of people were injured in the collision but none of them seriously.
