Two cousins remanded in custody over Devlin murder

Two cousins have appeared in court today charged in connection with the murder of Ballymurphy man, Gerard Devlin.

Francisco Notarantonio, aged 18, of Whitecliff Parade in Ballymurphy, and Paul Burns, aged 23, from Dermott Hill Park, Ballymurphy, both deny killing the father-of-six last Friday.

Mr Devlin, 39, was fatally stabbed when he arrived in Whitecliff Parade, to collect his children for the weekend.

Two other members of the Notarantonio family have already appeared in court charged with the same murder.

A police inspector told the court that she could connect both men to the charges and also to a second charge of causing an affray.

The men have been remanded in custody and will appear in the same court via video link on March 7.
