Two men stabbed in South Belfast attack

Police have appealed for information after two men were stabbed, during an attack in South Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

It is understood that the men were chased from Kitchener Street into Frenchpark Street, shortly before 1.30am.

The two men were then subsequently attacked, with one man, aged 23, suffering a stab wound to his hand and cuts to his face, and his 21-year-old friend being stabbed in the shoulder and receiving cuts and bruises to his head.

Police believe the attack may be connected to the break-in of a car in Kitchener Street, however they have not yet received any reports from the car owner.

Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

Residents of Frenchpark Street contacted police after one of the men sought refuge from his attackers in a house in the area.

Police have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to contact them in South Belfast on 0845 600 8000, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
