Man shot in paramilitary style shooting

A man in his forties was injured during a paramilitary style shooting incident in east Belfast last night.

Police have said that the man was walking along the junction between London Street and London Road, close to the Ravenhill Road area of the city, at around 7.20pm when he was approached by a man who shot him a number of times in the legs.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

Police are investigating a motive for the shooting and a PSNI spokesman has confirmed that the incident is being linked to paramilitaries.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or have any information relating to it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
