Ear bitten during attack

Police have appealed for information after a 21-year-old man had part of his ear bitten off during an incident in Belfast city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The attack happened at around 2am, outside a nightclub in the Bruce Street area of the city, when the victim went to the assistance of a female friend who was being assaulted by a man.

When he intervened, the attacker then turned on him, and proceeded to bite off part of his ear. He was taken to hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Police believe that there were a large number of people in the area at the time and have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
