NI vote registration campaign
A new voting register is to be compiled to identify who is entitled to vote in Northern Ireland elections.
Due to the drop in number in voting since the annual electoral registration was instated, the new register will mean that voters will only have to fill in registration forms every 10 years.
The new campaign, known as “ Secure Your Vote or Lose Your Vote” will be targeting voters who have failed to register in the past.
Over two million forms will be delivered to homes throughout the province soon, and will be due to be returned by November 13.
It is understood that those who fail to complete and return the form, could face prosecution.
Canvassers will call to homes across Northern Ireland to collect the completed forms before the November 13 deadline.
If no-one is home, a pre-paid envelope will be posted through the letterbox to to enable forms to be returned by post.
The new electoral register will be published at the start of December.
