Minister opens centre for Children in Northern Ireland
The Minister for Children and Young People, Maria Eagle, has today officially opened the new premises for Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI) in Belfast.
The Minister also launched the organisation’s website which will provide support services to 90 member organisations who work directly with children, young people and their families.
Speaking at the opening, Maria Eagle said: “The new premises are user friendly, obviously designed to enable those who work with children to achieve maximum efficiency and give of their best. They boast custom-designed conference and meeting facilities, staffed by an enthusiastic and energetic team.”
The Minister also described CiNI’s new and extended website as the “doorway” to a comprehensive range of information, including a Policy Probe and Participation Portal, which is supported by the Carnegie Foundation.
She said: “The website is both user friendly, accessible and an invaluable resource for all CiNI’s members across Northern Ireland particularly those operating in rural areas.”
Maria Eagle was welcomed at the launch by the Chair of the organisation, Pip Jaffa.
At the launch the Minister also spoke of her role as Children and Young People’s Minister in Northern Ireland and the challenges ahead through implementation of the 10-year Strategy for Children and Young People and the government’s commitment to delivery of the Strategy across the coming Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) period.
