Four injured on Belfast-bound flight

Four people have been injured on a flight from Birmingham to Belfast following an emergency during the flight.

The Flybe crew radioed on their way to Belfast at 13.30pm today that they had an emergency. According to early reports the plane had encountered severe and unexpected movement.

According to Brian Carlin, the Marketing Manager of Belfast City Airport, an emergency plan was put into place at the airport but the plane landed safely and on time.

A flight attendant suffered a broken leg and another member of staff sustained a sprained ankle. A third member of staff and a passenger suffered minor head injuries.

There were 36 passengers and five crewmembers on board the flight.

It is unclear at this stage what actually caused the incident, however Belfast City Airport said they would be fully investigating the incident.
