Two arrested over drugs haul
Two more people have been arrested in relation to what is thought to be the largest ever drugs haul in Ireland.
Gardai have seized cocaine worth an estimated 100 million euro following reports of a man missing from a dinghy off the west Cork coast.
The men, both in their 40s were detained in Schull, County Cork near the Mizen Head peninsula, where the drugs worth 107m euro were found.
Another man was arrested yesterday, and was helping police with their enquiries.
All three are currently detained at Bantry Garda Station.
Some 50 packages that later proved to contain cocaine were seen floating in the sea. Gardai assisted by naval and customs officers retrieved over one tonne of drugs bales from the sea in the area.
An inflatable boat has also been recovered at the scene. It is thought that a larger boat may have been used to transport the consignment of drugs into Irish waters.
The search of the area is expected to last several days.
