Local firm appointed as new training providers

Sandy Arthur Training Services has become the first company in Northern Ireland to be accredited as a Construction Skills Register Provider by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Due to a continued increase in demand for health and safety training, the CITB has moved to provide additional means of facilitating training by accrediting external training providers. These organisations will then be able to provide health and safety training and occupational assessment for the Construction Skills Register, as well as plant training and assessment.

Sandy Arthur Training Services was established in 1984, and is now one of the leading training providers to industry throughout Ireland and the UK. Training is carried out both locally and nationwide, with the firm's offices spanning Belfast, Donegal and Limavady.

CITB Chief Executive, Allan McMullen, said: "The Board is committed to encouraging and widening access to adequate training for the construction industry, particularly in health and safety, and is keen to accredit additional competent training organisations to provide training and assessment for the CSR scheme.

"However, CITB will not cease delivery of this training until it is satisfied that there is sufficient adequate training delivered to national and industry standards to meet industry demand."
