Teen Esacapes Blaze
A teenager has escaped a fire by jumping onto a roof from an upper floor window. The blaze broke out in a homeless hostel near the East Belfast Mission on the Newtownards Road. He was then taken to hospital. The Fire and Rescue Service were called at about 5pm on Sunday, but the building still suffered considerably, and has sustained extensive smoke and water damage. Last night alternative accommodation was being found for the other residents of the severely damaged premises.
Rape Accused For Court
A 15-year-old youth has been charged with the rape of a woman in her 20s who was on holiday in Northern Ireland. The alleged attack happened as the woman was out walking in Colin Glen Forest Park in west Belfast on the afternoon of Saturday 12 April. The teenager has appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court today and was also charged with false imprisonment and rape. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear appear in court via videolink on 6 May.
YFC Run Wild
A hostel in Co Down is alleged to have been seriously damaged by rampaging 'young farmers'. Police are investigating after members of a Young Farmers' Club were evicted from a youth hostel after reports of serious criminal damage. The owners of the Corn Mill Complex in Annalong claim 35 members from Garvagh and Ballymoney YFC clubs ran amok in the County Down hostel last night. It is understood they were staying there ahead of the YFC annual conference at the Slieve Donard hotel in Newcastle.
Fire Brigade Attacked
In the latest of such Province-wide attacks, a fire engine has been damaged following a weekend incident in Londonderry. UP to 10 youths threw bottles and other missiles at the fire appliance at Bloomfield Park in Derry at about 11pm on Saturday. No one was hurt but the fire appliance was damaged in the violence in the Northland area of the city. Station Commander Terry Morrison said he believed the attack had been pre-meditated.
Belfast Robberies
There have been another two robberies in Belfast. Last Wednesday a man vaulted the counter at a Halifax branch in Castlecourt shopping centre and grabbed cash before escaping, while on Friday, three men, two carrying handguns and one with a knife, entered the bank at the junction of Crumlin Road and Tudor Place in north Belfast. It is thought they escaped in a car parked in Tudor Place with a sum of cash which police believe may be dyed by packs from the bank.

Chief Constable Criticised For Not Inviting UUP To PNSI Graduation
The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has criticised PNSI Chief Constable, Jon Boutcher, for his failure to invite their party leader, Doug Beattie, to the PSNI Graduation Ceremony. UUP member of the Policing Board, Mike Nesbitt, said: "For the avoidance of doubt, I welcome the fact Michelle O'Neill MLA will attend in her capacity as First Minister.

THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Belfast primary school targeted in arson attack
More than 100 primary six and primary seven pupils at a Belfast school have been told not to attend school after an arson attack at the weekend damaged classrooms. In all three classrooms at St Anne’s primary school in Dunmurry were destroyed in a fire causing damage estimated at a quarter of a million pounds.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In South Belfast
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following an arson attack at a property in south Belfast. At approximately 10.20pm on Saturday, 13 April, police received a report of a fire at a house in the Kilburn Street area. Police attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
