Young Woman Killed In Armagh Car Crash

A young woman has been killed in a car collision near Armagh.

The 21-year-old woman was driving on the Hamiltonsbawn Road shortly before 8.45 am on Thursday when her car crashed with another vehicle.

It is understood the driver of that car was treated in hospital for injuries but they are not thought to be serious at this stage.

The road remains closed and diversions are in place at Drumbeedeg road and Lenalea road.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The latest death comes after a week of carnage on the roads.

On Thursday, a 24-year-old man died after his car struck a tree at Tattymoyle Road near Fintona shortly before midnight.

On Friday, Greer Parks, 66, from Armagh was killed when his three-wheel vehicle crashed on the Ballygroobany Road at around 2pm.

Niall O'Hagan, 19, was one of two motorcyclists who died at the weekend when his motorbike crashed on the Killyclogher Road in Omagh.

Robert Canning, 39, died after his motorcycle collided with a caravan on the Priestlands Road near Bushmills on Sunday afternoon.

The deaths bring the number of people who have been killed to 56.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Two die in separate road accidents
Two people have died in separate road accidents in Counties Londonderry and Down. In the latest accident, a man died following a road traffic accident in Ballynahinch on Wednesday. The accident occurred on the Crossgar Road at around 10.30am. Only one vehicle is believed to have been involved. The victim's name has yet to be released.
