Coleraine Road Death Pushes Toll Up Again

Just as details of a man who died after a road accident in Co Down on Wednesday night were being released, another man has been killed in a road accident, this time near Coleraine.

The earlier victim was just 18 years old, and has been identified as Stephen Barlow from the Banbridge area.

Mr Barlow was killed after a car carrying three people left the Huntly Road in Banbridge. It happened at about 9.40pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle and a tractor have been in collision on the Ballyrashane Road today, (Friday).

The Ballyrashane Road has been closed between Coleraine and Ballybogy and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route where possible after the crash at about 8.30am this morning.

The PSNI are appealing for witnesses and have said they particularly want to speak to two women who rendered first aid at the scene.

In another road-related story, yesterday's Ulster Grand Prix practice session was held up after an angry local resident parked her car close to the course in a protest.

The woman left her vehicle on her own property close to the Budore section of the Dundrod circuit in a dispute with race officials.

However, the Dundrod 150 road races were held as scheduled later on Thursday with a number of extra safety measures.

Organisers placed hay bales were put around the vehicle and yellow flags used to warn riders.
