CIT Cash Taken

Robbers hit a cash-in-transit delivery in north Belfast earlier this week. The incident happened on the Crumlin Road at around 11.30am on Monday when a cash box was grabbed by two men, one armed with a large knife. One is described as being in his 20s, wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second was in his late 20s, and was wearing a dark blue hooded top and dark blue tracksuit bottoms. Police are seeking information and are hoping to hear from witnesses.

Coe Opens Sports Hall

A new sports' facility was officially opened today by Lord Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The University of Ulster's new £13 million world class sports facilities, home to the Sports Institute Northern Ireland, is a state-of-the-art training facilities designed to meet the needs of a wide range of sports for elite athletes, university students, staff and members of the local community and are the outcome of a successful partnership between the University of Ulster and Sport Northern Ireland. Speaking at the official opening Lord Coe, said: "The university has been successful in gaining an entry into the Pre-Games Training Camp Guide and the new sports centre is a core part of their offer to teams looking to base themselves in the UK prior to competition in 2012."

Orde Briefs Paul Quinn's Parents

The parents of Paul Quinn have held a private meeting with the PSNI Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde. He travelled to Newry yesterday to brief Briege and Stephen Quinn on the progress of the police investigation into their son’s brutal killing. Twenty-one-year-old Paul Quinn was beaten to death by a gang at a remote farmhouse in Co Monaghan in October last year. The Cullyhanna man's death, which his parents believe was carried out by local IRA members, sparked widespread revulsion on both sides of the border. A total of 12 people have been arrested but all have subsequently been released without charge.

Mountain Plunge Fine

The company which ran a cable car that plunged into a Scottish mountainside - injuring three members of a Co Down family - has been fined. A total of five people were hurt when the gondola fell to the ground after colliding with another cable car in July 2006. The accident was at Aonach Mor, near Fort William on July 13, 2006. A family of three from Newry were among those injured in the crash. Operators Nevis Range Development Company were yesterday fined £2,000 after admitting contravening the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Appeal For Information On Ballygawley Collision
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a two-vehicle collision in Ballygawley. On Sunday, 21 April, a blue BMW M4 and a black Kia Sportage were involved in a collision in the Old Omagh Road area just before 4pm.

PSNI Appeal Following Fatal Collision In L'Derry
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal road traffic in L'Derry on Thursday, 18 April. A woman, aged in her 70s, has died in hospital following a two-car collision on the Limavady Road at approximately 4pm. The collision involved a grey Citroen C3 and blue Alfa Romeo.

Quinns Due Back In Court
Sean Quinn and his son are due back in a Dublin court later as the inquiry continues as to whether or not the former billionaires have complied with court orders. Sean Quinn was once the richest man in Ireland, but declared himself bankrupt last year.
