Aerospace Companies Urged To Compete

Aerospace companies from across Northern Ireland are being urged to sign up to a UK-wide initiative which aims to make them more competitive.

The Supply Chains for the 21st Century programme (SC21) is focused on developing and improving the capabilities of the UK aerospace industry, enabling companies of all sizes to compete more effectively on the world stage.

Pictured during an awareness workshop held by Bombardier Aerospace, which is one of the major UK companies leading the supplier development programme, are, from left, Nigel Hicklin, Managing Director, Dontaur Engineering, Ballymena, and Sean Phelan, Managing Director, Maydown Precision Engineering, Londonderry, who have already signed up to the SC21 programme, with Stephen Cowan, General Manager, Supply Chain, Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast and Niall Casey, Director, Business Improvement Services at Invest Northern Ireland, which is supporting the SC21 initiative.

Stephen Cowan said: "As part of our ongoing efforts to develop the local aerospace supply base, and as a founder member of the SC21 initiative, we're urging all local companies to get involved, so that they can fully grasp the opportunities that become available, and help Northern Ireland further cement and grow its reputation in the global aerospace industry."
