Carnival To Mark Revamped City Hall
Belfast's City Hall will be finally reopened next month, after a two-year refit.
This event will be celebrated with a complete festive programme to encourage all the citizens to enjoy the reopening of this historical building.
Fly Butterfly is the theme of the Carnival and spectacular Caterpillar Parade that will open the celebration on Saturday 12th October.
Belfast streets will be plenty of feature dancers, street performers, drummers, puppets and community participants.
Some hours before, young people will have the chance to make their own caterpillar or butterfly masks at the workshops set up in City Hall.
On Sunday, 18th October, the Family Fun day will transform the City Hall in a hive of activity for children and adults, (pictured).
Festivities are going to begin at 12 noon on Saturday, 17th October - when a lot of activities are programmed for the city.
The schedule includes music, cinema, fashion, multi cultural events, exhibitions, talks, theatre and other activities for every age.
"This is everyone's City Hall and it is hoped that residents from all parts of Belfast will join in the fun throughout the reopening celebrations," said Lord Mayor, Naomi Long.
In 2007, Belfast City Hall was closed for doing an extensive refurbishment estimated in £11m.
This project included the replacement of heating, mechanical and electrical systems as well as asbestos removal, re-roofing, drainage improvements, and the installation of computer network systems.
Next month, the public services and also births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships as well as the cemeteries offices will return to the newly reopened City Hall.

Home Safety And Crime Prevention Event At Belfast City Hall
A free home safety and crime prevention advice event is to be held at Belfast City Hall on Friday, 01 March. The Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has organised the event, which is free and will take place from 10am-1pm in Belfast City Hall. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will also be provided.
