Opportunity Youth Switch Onto Employment

Opportunity Youth, Northern Ireland’s leading provider of support services to young people, adult offenders and families in the community, is looking for participants for its Switch onto Employment scheme.

Anyone aged 16-24 who is not in employment or education is eligible to take part in the 12-week intensive course designed to help young people gain experience and improve their prospects for work and further learning.

Opportunity Youth chief executive Anne-Marie McClure said: "At Opportunity Youth we have a proven track record in dealing with the unique and personal needs of young people including issues relating to their personal, social and learning needs.

"Switch onto Employment is programme that provides intensive training including mentoring, personal development and essential skills training that will hopefully lead towards a better future for participants.

"Many of those who take part will have personal or developmental needs and may have become disengaged from learning or have significant personal or social obstacles to overcome.

"At Opportunity Youth we give them a platform to succeed in a safe learning arena by reducing potential barriers to employment.

"Youth unemployment is a major problem in Northern Ireland today and it is vitally important that we do not allow this forgotten generation to be left behind."
