Amazon To Create 1,000 New Jobs
Amazon has announced it will create 1,000 new permanent roles at its UK fulfilment centres in the coming months.
There are currently 6,000 permanent employees in Amazon fulfilment and customer service centres in the UK.
"Over the past two years, we have added well in excess of 2,000 new employees to our workforce and we are delighted to be able to add a further 1,000 to that number over the coming months," said John Tagawa, Director of UK Operations at Amazon. "We have continued to focus day in, day out on providing the very best shopping experience for our customers and as we see greater demand, we are able to rapidly grow our talented team across the UK."

The centre is home to a team of engineers and developers which supports the design and deployment of Amazon websites.

A leading US medical technology firm is to expand its Co Tipperary manufacturing facility with the creation of 1,000 new jobs. Guidant Corporation will create 500 new high quality manufacturing jobs over the next three years at its Clonmel plant before adding a further 500 new jobs as the operations develop.

Purepipe To Create Six New Jobs
Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin has performed the official opening of Amazon’s new customer service centre at the Airport Business Park in Cork. The Minister was joined at the opening ceremony by Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, Marc Onetto.
