Nelipak Healthcare Packaging To Expand Workforce
Nelipak Healthcare Packaging is to expand its workforce at its Irish operation.
The announcement, which follows steady growth at the Galway operation, sees an increase of 10 employees to the permanent headcount. Development of new products and services at the Galway facility over the last five years have seen an increase of its headcount from 62 to 86 people.
Nelipak established a presence in Ireland in 1995 with the acquisition of Plasmedics, an Irish-owned medical packaging provider. Its Galway operation provides cleanroom thermoformed packaging to leading blue chip medical device manufacturers. The US-headquartered company, based in Cranston, Rhode Island, is a global leader in the design, development and production of high end cleanroom manufactured packaging solutions. During a recent visit to the facility, Mike Kelly, Nelipak CEO, welcomed the announcement and spoke of the importance of the Galway operation in meeting the needs of the Medical Device cluster in Ireland which is home to many of the world's leading Medical Device Technology companies.
IDA's Head of Regional Business Development Breda O'Toole said: "Growth of this kind in well established companies in regions is an important focus for IDA and it is great to see Nelipak develop new products and services which will help consolidate its position as a leading provider in the field."

Jobs Loss At Newbridge Packaging Plant

Involving an investment of €1.7 million, this IDA-backed expansion by Harmac is set to create 150 new jobs over the next three years which will bring total employment to 250 on completion.
