McDonald's Unveils 153 New NI Jobs
Growing customer demand for a global fast food franchise has resulted in the creation 153 new Northern Ireland jobs.
McDonald's has announced over 4,000 new UK employment opportunities, a fraction of which will benefit the Province.
The burger giant has attributed the expansion to "sustained growth, which is seeing the company serve an extra two million customers a month compared to last year".
The announcement has coincided with the launch of the 'My McJob' recruitment campaign.
The latest NI McDonald's outlet in Victoria Square has brought the number of franchises in the Province to 26.
McDonald's franchisee, Des Lamph, said: "Creating more than 150 new jobs in Northern Ireland is great news for our business and our franchisees, particularly in these tougher trading times.
"And with 4,000 jobs in total being created across the UK it is a clear signal that customers are responding to the restaurant modernisation programme and menu changes that we have been rolling out over the last couple of years."
Mr Lamph said, to keep up current standards, the company "needs to keep delivering outstanding customer service".
"We may be entering choppy economic waters, but as a company that is more recession resistant than many, we can continue offering people a job with excellent career progression, training and development opportunities and flexibility," he added.
A series of posters will promote the benefits of working at McDonald's, describing why employees "love their McJob".

Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

Consultation On New Employment Programme Launched
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry today launched a public consultation on a proposed new employment programme for Northern Ireland. The new programme, which has been called provisionally Steps 2 Success (NI), will replace the Department’s main adult return to work provision, Steps to Work, which was introduced in September 2008.
