145 IT Jobs For Cork

Cork has received news of another jobs boost, with 145 new posts to be created in the IT sector.

The announcement was made by American computer firm Option Wireless, with the opportunities being distributed over the next three years.

Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan welcomed the firm's expansion.

Option Wireless makes wireless broadband technology.

Ms Coughlan is also set to formally announce plans by Quinn Insurance to create 350 jobs at a new Cork base in the coming years.

Instruction Firm Drives 250 Jobs
A total of 250 jobs are to be created following the expansion of driver training and instruction company SIM2Learn, it has been announced. The company has its headquarters in Galway, and operates from centres in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Letterkenny.

Land Of Leather Goes Into Administration
Furniture retailer Land of Leather has called in administrators after attempts to sell the firm failed. Accountancy firm Deloitte has been appointed by the Kent-based firm after efforts to secure additional funding and sell the business were unsuccessful.

188 Jobs To Be Created In Cork
188 new jobs are to be created in Cork following the announcement that three firms are to set up operations in the city. US software company Solarwinds is to establish its European headquarters in Mahon, and is expected to employ 75 people in the next three years.

Murphy Welcomes Laya Announcement Of 100 New Jobs For Cork
Fine Gael Cork North Central Deputy, Dara Murphy, has welcomed the announcement by the new private healthcare company that has taken over from Quinn, Laya Healthcare, of 100 new jobs to be created in the next three years. Laya is already a significant employer in Cork, employing 343 people in Little Island in Cork.

40 New Jobs Announced At SDC Trailers
Mid Ulster MLA Patsy McGlone has welcomed news Toomebridge-based manufacturing firm SDC Trailers has secured a £1.25 million overseas contract, creating 40 new jobs. Mr McGlone, who is chair of the Assembly's DETI committee, said the creation of new jobs by a long established firm was "a good news story".
