New Drogheda Tesco Opens

Tesco opened its fifteenth new premises in Ireland today.

The Drogheda store has created 220 jobs in the area, with a selection of produce on offer supplied by six local Louth producers.

Located just off the M1, in Rathmullan Business Centre, the store is Tesco’s second Drogheda outlet and its fourth in the county.

Louth TD Dermot Ahern said the new store would bring a welcomed boost to the local economy.

"This is Tesco’s fourth store alone in Louth and they are to be commended for their commitment to their store opening programme and to job creation," he added.

Chief Executive Tony Keohane said the new opening marks a significant milestone for the firm, which has filled 1,000 new positions in the last 11 months.

"We are also supporting a number of local suppliers and producers who will supply products to this store and to many others throughout the country," he added.
