Appeal After Violent Attempted Hijack |
|
Detectives in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following a violent attempted hijacking outside Ballyclare on Tuesday evening.
A 23-year-old man sustained bruising and a cut to his hand when four masked males in another vehicle rammed his car.
The vehicle was forced to stop close to the Hillhead Road roundabout on the 'Larne Line' heading from Corr's Corner Roundabout towards Ballyclare.
The males then assaulted the victim before leaving the scene.
At around 7.25pm, police on patrol came across the victim's white Citroen Berlingo on the Ballynure Road. He was badly shaken and taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the incident is being treated as an attempted hijacking, however enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
Anyone who may have any information, or who was travelling on the road at the time, should contact CID at Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
