Worker Given £10K For Sectarian Abuse
A catholic worker has been awarded compensation of over £10K for sectarian harassment in the workplace.
The man employed by Shorts/ Bombardier has been awarded £11,500 after a workmate harassed him via text messages.
The judge said that the texts messages contained ‘chillingly frightening’ sectarian comments.
The victim claims that he has suffered mental health problems as a result of the abuse.
The Judge also said that the company’s hands off approach to the sectarian bullying did not alleviate them of liability.

2nd Year Of Safety Equipment Initiative For Domestic Abuse Victims
An initiative providing security equipment to victims of domestic abuse who live in the Derry City & Strabane District has entered its second year. The aim of the initiative to help victims feel safer involves The Police Service of Northern Ireland and Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP).

PSNI Received 2,228 Domestic-Abuse Calls Over Christmas Period
The PSNI responded to a total of 2,228 domestic abuse calls between 20th November 2023 and 2nd January 2024, during their annual Operation 'Season's Greetings'. On these key festive dates from 24th December 2023 to 1st January 2024, the service also arrested more under 18s for domestic abuse related offences than the previous three years.
