Woman Badly Burned While Decanting Petrol Into Glass Jug

A woman has been badly burned when petrol ignited as she transferred it between containers in her kitchen.

It is believed Diane Hill, of Acomb, York, may have had the cooker on as she transferred the fuel from "an appropriate petrol container" to a glass jug.

Prime Minister David Cameron said his heart went out to the woman who was burnt while transferring petrol between canisters in her kitchen.

Asked about the incident in York, he said: "This was absolutely a desperate incident and a terrible thing that has happened to this woman. My heart goes out to her and her family. Everything that can be done is being done to help her at this time."

Protest and Counter Protest To Take Place At Britain’s Largest Abortion Provider

Both anti-abortion and pro-choice campaigners are set to hold protests outside Britain’s largest abortion provider.

They have both said the recent focus on abortion has galvanised new support and they expect hundreds of people to turn out on Friday night.

Anti-abortion group 40 Days for Life hold regular 40 day long prayer vigils at abortion clinics around the UK.

They recently cause controversy when police were called to one of their vigils because women were being filmed entering and leaving the clinic. They have distanced themselves from the incident saying the camerman was not affiliated with their group.

A counter pro-choice demonstration has been organised to tackle what has been described as bullying and intimidation tactics.

"We want this to be a very clear reminder that there is very much a pro-choice majority out there and that groups like 40 Days for Life are a tiny but vocal minority," said Kerry Johnson of the Bloomsbury Pro-Choice Alliance.

Two Convicted Over Neil Lennon Bomb Plot

Trevor Muirhead and Neil McKenzie have been convicted of plotting to hurt Celtic manager, Neil Lennon.

The pair will face lengthy jail terms after a high court jury in Glasgow said they had sent five devices packed with nails to Lennon, the late lawyer Paul McBride QC, the senior Labour politician Trish Godman, and republican campaigners last year.

The judge said both men had been "convicted of unusual but serious offences". He said sentencing would be deferred until 27 April for social inquiry reports.
