Cyclist Injured Following Accident In Holywood |
|
Alliance Holywood Councillor and Sustrans Cycling Ranger Andrew Muir has called for more be done to improve road safety for cyclists following an accident involving a young cyclist and vehicle at Church Road, Holywood this morning.
Cllr Andrew Muir stated: "Whilst initial reports are that the injuries this cyclist has sustained are not serious, my thoughts are with the young man. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
"Church Road is a very busy thoroughfare and the safety of pedestrians and cyclists is of paramount importance.
"This incident yet again proves the need for government to prioritise measures to improve safety for cyclists in Northern Ireland. All road users must be respectful of one and other to prevent accidents. But the Environment and Roads Ministers must take a lead on this issue if we are to improve road safety for all."
