Police do not believe a baby fell from a ferry in to the Belfast Lough in Northern Ireland.
A woman was rescued from the Stena Line boat on Wednesday night.
She was taken to the Royal Victoria hospital and is in a stable condition.
The search for the baby began this morning in bad weather conditions.
A police spokesperson confirmed: "We do not believe there was a baby in the woman's care on the ferry."
The alarm was raised at around 6.10pm and the woman was recovered around 15 minutes later. The ferry was getting ready to dock when the incident happened.
