|
The Scottish First Minister has congratulated Andy Murray on his Olympic win.
Commenting on Andy Murray winning the Olympics Men's Singles final, First Minister Alex Salmond, said:"Andy Murray played the match of his life on the biggest stage of all against the best player in tennis history.
"This gold medal marks Murray’s arrival as a contender to be the world’s number one.
"To beat Djokovic and Federer is an epic achievement. To demolish Federer in an Olympic final is breathtaking.
"It’s a Murray masterclass which should make everyone in Scotland extremely proud."
Sports Minister Shona Robison added: "Andy’s performances were incredibly impressive. It was an honour to be here today to cheer him on in his first Olympic Final and I was absolutely thrilled when he took the Men’s Singles Gold for Team GB as well as the Silver in the Mixed Doubles with partner Laura Robson.
"Andy has again done us proud by adding yet more medals and equalling Scotland’s best ever showing at an Olympic Games. I’m now looking forward to celebrating further medal success in the days to come."
