Police Issue Warning Over Laser Pens |
|
The PSNI have issued a warning after 12 incidents of laser pens being pointed at aircrafts in the Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus areas have occurred in the last three weeks.
Inspector Alan McKeown said the pens "can cause temporary blindness and distraction to the pilot".
Anyone caught shining a laser pen at an aircraft could serve five years in prison or receive a £5,000 fine.
The inspector continued: "You will be searched, your house or property may be searched, and you may be cautioned and arrested, brought before a court and either go to prison or receive a hefty fine."
