Appeal Over Fast Food Robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a fast food outlet on the Belmont Road area of east Belfast on the evening of Sunday 16 March.

Just after 20:00 it was reported that two men wearing masks, one carrying a suspected firearm and one carrying a hatchet, entered the premises and threatened staff.

The males then made off with a sum of cash and handbags belonging to two members of staff.

One of the men is described as being approximately 5'9" tall and of stocky build. The second male is described as being approximately 5'6" - 5'7" tall, of stocky build, wearing a powder blue jacket and blue jeans.

They are believed to have made off along Dundela Avenue in a red coloured Mazda car driven by a third male. The car was discovered a short time later in the Stratheden Street area. The members of staff were not injured but left shaken by their ordeal.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

Man Assaulted During Aggravated Burglary

Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the Eglinton Lane area of Portrush, County Antrim, on the morning of Sunday 16 March.

The incident occurred at about 11:50 when a 26-year-old man was assaulted in his flat by another man. The victim is currently in hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Car Attacked With Petrol Bomb

A petrol bomb attack has been carried out in the Ballyronan Park area of Newtownabbey, County Down, on the evening of Sunday 16 March.

At approximately 21:35, police received a report that a car was on fire. The car was destroyed in the fire. It is believed that several males were involved.

Men Assaulted In W Belfast Bar

Two men have been attacked at licensed premises in west Belfast.

A man who was in the toilets of the bar on the Glen Road was hit on the back of the head on Thursday at around midnight.

Shortly after the incident, another man was attacked and struck several times on his head as he went outside to phone for an ambulance.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at Woodbourne Police Station.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Two Die In Road Accidents
Two men have died in separate road accidents. On Sunday, a man was killed when his car collided with another vehicle on Banbridge Road, Dromore, at around 6pm. A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been released on police bail. In a separate incident, a man, understood to be in his 40s, has died in Co Armagh.

Car Transporter In Strabane Set Alight
Police are appealing for information after a car transporter, with a number of cars on it, was set alight while it was parked in Strabane on Sunday evening. The police are treating the incident as arson.
