Pair Jailed After Stealing Jewellery From A Pensioner

Two men who stole jewellery from an elderly woman in Bristol to fund their drug habits have been jailed.

The victim, a 64-year-old woman, is a full-time carer to her husband, who suffers from dementia, and she was building up a collection of jewellery to fund his future care needs.

Daniel Bennett, 32, of Exmouth Road, was sentenced to 44-months' imprisonment at Bristol Crown Court, after admitting three counts of burglary and two counts of fraud, while 33-year-old James Brunyee, of Hither Bath Bridge, Brislington, was sentenced to 27-months’ imprisonment after admitting two counts of burglary and two counts of fraud.

Waste Illegally Dumped In Bedfordshire - Appeal

The Environment Agency is appealing for witnesses to a crime after approximately 3,000 cubic metres of waste was dumped in a warehouse.

The discovery was found by the Environment Agency's specialist waste crime officers after they were called to the warehouse in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.

Investigations have revealed that during the nights between Saturday 16 November and Wednesday 20 November last year, around 3,000 cubic metres of waste was dumped illegally inside the warehouse on the former Ecomold site on Luton Road, Dunstable.

The criminals gained access by cutting a lorry-sized hole in the side of the warehouse.

Tracy Nash, Environmental Crime Team Leader, said: "This is not a matter of small scale fly-tipping, this case appears to be intentional large scale avoidance of disposal costs.

"This callous act has endangered the environment and had a costly impact for the land owner. It is vital that we identify where the waste came from and who transferred it to the warehouse. If an innocent party has handed it to a contractor for disposal in good faith then they won’t be in any trouble and may have critical information for us."

St Leonards Man Sentenced Over Indecent Images Of Children

Aaron Wall, 45, of Terrace Road, St Leonards, has been sentenced to imprisonment over offences relating to indecent images of children.

On Thursday 27 March, he appeared at Hove Crown Court and was sentenced to eight months imprisonment. He was also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years and was served by the court with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) severely restricting his access to the Internet for 10 years.

He had appeared at the same court on Tuesday 25 February and pleaded guilty to 11 offences of making indecent images of children and two of possession of extreme pornographic images. The offences involved a total of 1,887 indecent images including level 5 images, which are the most severe, and 10 extreme pornographic images.

A warrant had been executed at his home on 1 November 2012. Mr Wall was arrested and later released on police bail pending the examination of computer items that were seized during a search of his home.
