Milly Dowler's Killer Receives £4,500 Following Prison Attack

The man who killed teenager Milly Dowler has been awarded a £4,500 payout after being assaulted in a West Yorkshire prison.

Levi Bellfield, who was jailed for life in 2011 for killing the 13-year-old schoolgirl, took legal action after he was attacked by another prisoner in 2009.

Bellfield said he suffered minor injuries and that the prison staff should have protected him.

A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: "We are hugely disappointed that Levi Bellfield was awarded £4,500 by a judge following an assault by a prisoner in 2009 at HMP Wakefield."
