British Man Killed In Bahamas

A 56-year-old British man has been shot dead by masked thieves in the Bahamas.

The victim, named by police as Edgar Dart, was killed at his mother's home in Emerald Bay near Freeport, Grand Bahama when the raiders entered the property and a struggle ensued.

The incident happened around 7am local time on Tuesday.

Mr Dart is understood to have been living in Winnipeg, Canada.

The Foreign Office said it was aware of the death and is providing consular assistance.

Emrick Seymour, the Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, is quoted as saying that three robbers tied up family members with duct tape and Mr Dart was shot during the ensuing struggle. The attackers stole jewellery and personal belongings in the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.

Parrot Rescues Owner From Attack

An African Grey pet parrot has come to the rescue after its owner was attacked.

Its owner, understood to be a 25-year-old woman, was attacked by a man at Sunningfield Park in Hendon, London.

The bird was able to foil the attack by flapping its wings and squawking loudly at the attacker.

The loud protestations of Wunsy, the parrot, frightened the suspect who ran away towards Great North Road. Both the pet and owner were unharmed.

Police have appealed for information

Peaches Geldof's Body Released To Family

Peaches Geldof's body has been released to her family.

They will now be able to make arrangements for the 25-year-old's funeral.

Peaches, the daughter of Bob Geldof, was found dead at her home in Kent on Monday afternoon.

Her death is being treated as a "non-suspicious, unexplained sudden death".

A post-mortem was carried out earlier this week, but proved inconclusive.

Ms Geldof is survived by husband Tom Cohen and their two young sons.

Peaches Geldof Died Of Heroin Overdose, Coroner Rules
TV presenter and model Peaches Geldof died of a heroin overdose, an inquest has ruled. Her husband, Tom Cohen, said he believed she had started using heroin again in February this year. His wife was on a methadone programme for her addiction and had been taking weekly drug tests.

Heroin 'Likely' In Peaches Geldof Death
An inquest has revealed that heroin is "likely" to have played a role in the death of Peaches Geldof. Ms Geldof, 25, was found dead at her home in Kent last month (7 April). At the time, officers said they were treating her death as "non-suspicious, unexplained and sudden". A post-mortem was carried out, but the results proved inconclusive.

Peaches Geldof Found Dead At Home
Peaches Geldof has been found dead at her home in Wrotham, Kent on Monday. The police were called to her house at 1.35pm after receiving a call concerned about the welfare of a woman. Peaches, who had two young songs with her second husband, Tom Cohen, was the daughter of musician Bob Geldof.

Home Of Peaches Geldof Raided Twice By Thieves
The home of the late Peaches Geldof has been broken into twice by burglars since her death last month. The house, which is located in Fairseat Lane, near Wrotham in Kent, was broken into in mid-April and the second raid was last Friday. Although it is believed that no personal things were stolen a lawnmower was taken in the first burglary.

Gurka Veteran Finds Attackers 5-Inch Blade In His Arm
A former Kent Gurkha who fought off a mugger was unaware he had been stabbed and that the attackers five inch blade had broken off in his arm. 38-year-old Taitex Phlamachha was with his wife when he was attacked after withdrawing money from a cash machine in Maidstone on 7 October.
