RMT Announce Five Days Of Strike Action Over Closures

Five days of strike action has been announced by workers on London Underground (LU) in a dispute over ticket office closures.

Announcing the action, the RMT have said the work stoppages are in protest at plans to close all of LU's 260 ticket offices and the loss of 960 jobs.

RMT union members will walk out for two days from 21:00 on 28 April, and again on 05 May for three days.

London Tube Strike Suspended
TSSA union has suspended new industrial action which was due to start at 21:00 GTM on the London Underground (LU). The RMT and TSSA unions said they had agreed to suspend the action over London Underground's planned ticket office closures. The TSSA confirmed it reached a last-minute deal with the Acas mediation body over the ticket office closures.

Tube workers are to be balloted over proposed industrial action, following the recent announcement of the closure of all London Underground (LU) ticket offices and the lose of 750 jobs. The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) unions has vowed to "fight" against LU closures and job cuts.

RMT Union Announces UK Wide Strike Action
The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has announced strike action in a dispute over pay. Network Rail workers voted 4-1 in favour of industrial action, when they rejected a pay offer of a one-off payment of £500 and a three year pay rise in line with inflation. RMT said that the vote, which had a 60% turnout, expressed "the anger of staff".

Commuters Face Further Tube Delays
Commuters in London are still facing travel misery on the Tube, despite the fact that a 72-hour strike by maintenance workers has been called off. The RMT union called off the strike action, which began at 6pm on Monday and involved around 2,300 employees, following talks with London Underground officials.

Fire Brigade Union Announce 8 Days Of Strikes
The Fire Brigade Union has announced a new series of strikes in England and Wales to begin on 9th August. Firefighters will strike for "a few hours" for eight consecutive days, the union said. The strike action is the latest in an ongoing dispute over government plans to cut pensions and extend the retirement age.
