25 New Jobs For Belfast
A total of 25 new jobs are to be created in Belfast by the C&C Group, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced.
The positions will be recruited over the next two years and are part of a £1.2m investment by the firm in Northern Ireland.
The company will open a new Commercial Business Support Centre which will be based in the group's existing offices in the Boucher area of the city.
Invest NI has offered the company almost £250,000 towards its investment including training support, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Foster said: "The C&C Group must be applauded for creating much needed jobs and for expanding their Belfast operation. It is testament to the company, which has been present in Belfast for over 100 years that it continues to develop and grow.
"Today's announcement is a substantial endorsement of Northern Ireland as a location for expert services and it will generate around £1.3million in salaries and wages over the next two years. The new centre will provide employment opportunities in an economically disadvantaged area and across a broad range of professional support services."
Tom McCusker, Managing Director of C&C Group Ireland and Tennent's NI, added: "We are delighted that this important strategic investment is being made in Northern Ireland. Belfast was among a number of potential locations in Britain and the Republic of Ireland that were evaluated by the group.
"Belfast emerged as the most suitable and best cost location because of the availability of skilled people here, a record of low staff turnover rates, a robust infrastructure particularly in terms of telecommunications, and the support package from Invest NI especially for employee training, the latter being an important focus for the group."

Belfast Engineering Jobs Lost
Around 50 staff at a Belfast engineering firm lost their jobs today after the business folded. Last night, Central Group Services' management told workers at the Dee Street plant, in the east of the city, that the outlook was bleak. This afternoon they were informed that the company, which also employs 20 staff in the Irish Republic, would close.

Woman rescued from fire in north Belfast
A woman has been rescued from a fire at an apartment block in north Belfast. Fire crews were called to the property at Queen Victoria Gardens in Fortwilliam at about 12.45am on Wednesday. A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said the fire was being treated as "suspicious".

Seminar examines sectarianism in sport
Experts from across the world were converging on Belfast today to discuss ideas on how to rid Northern Ireland of sectarianism in sport. The seminar is being jointly organised by the Irish Football Association (IFA) who have recently used their Football For All campaign as a way of stamping out sectarianism at local international soccer matches.
