Cornish People Granted Minority Status
European rules for the protection of national minorities are to be extend to Cornish people, giving them the same status as the Scots, Welsh and Irish.
News of the status has been welcomed by Cornish devolution campaign group Mebyon Kernow, who called it a "fantastic development" and a "proud day for Cornwall".
M42 Closed After Diesel Spillage
A section of the M42 in the West Midland has been closed after a lorry overturned and spilt diesel across the road.
The road is closed between junctions 4 and 5, near Solihull, while the spillage is cleared.
It is understood that the driver of the lorry had to be cut free from the cab by firefighters.
Archbishop of Canterbury Backs David Cameron's "Christian County"
The Archbishop of Canterbury has backed the Prime Ministers statement that the UK is a "Christian country".
In a blog post by the Most Rev Justin Welby stated that it is a "historical fact (perhaps unwelcome to some, but true)" that UK law, ethics and culture were based on its teachings and traditions.
He called the criticism of Mr Cameron by "atheist protesters" over his remarks "baffling".

Manchester Airport Announces £1bn Expansion
A £1 billion ten year plan to redevelop Manchester Airport has been announced. Plans include to expand Terminal Two along with improvements to Terminal Three. It is understood a new security hall, increased self-service check-in facilities and additional stands for aircraft will be developed along with new shops and restaurants.

Police Hunt 'Pig's Head' Vandals
A former chapel which is being converted into an Asian community centre has been the target of an attack. A pig's head was nailed to the door of the former Methodist chapel, near Carnons Downs at the weekend. Police are describing the incident as racist.

British soldier killed in Iraq named
The Ministry of Defence has named the soldier killed in Iraq on Tuesday as Corporal Matthew Cornish. The 29-year-old, who served with 1st Battalion The Light Infantry, died as a result of wounds sustained in a mortar attack on a UK military base in Basra in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
