No Second Review Of Parades Commission Decision

A restricted Orange Order march in Portadown will not be reviewed, the Parades Commission has said.

The Order had applied for a march, which included a stretch of road called Victoria Terrace.

The Commission had initially agreed to allow two bands and 200 marchers to walk the route, however, following complaints that Victoria Terrace was in fact part of the Garvaghy Road, the Parades Commission reversed its decision and restricted the march from that particular section of its route.

It is understood that the DUP's David Simpson had been quoted as saying that the Commission was to review its decision for a second time.

However, a statement from the Commission said their decision "remains in place".

The statement said: "Where the commission receives a review request and determines that it does not contain new information or representations, the standard letter rejecting the review application states the commission's willingness to meet the person making the review request to discuss the issues or to provide clarification."
